Bio.

Having a degree in graphic design, Joyce Danko began her decorative career with an apprenticeship at a large trade show complex in Pennsylvania, creating signage and displays for exhibitors.

She relocated to Dallas, Texas in the early 80’s where she freelanced as a graphic artist/muralist, eventually forming a successful partnership that catered to the design needs of its booming hotel and restaurant economy.

It was a period of renewed interest in the decorative arts and Joyce worked and learned alongside other proficient craftsmen, sharing their “Old World” knowledge of trompe l’oeil, mural work, stenciling, gilding, and architectural ornamentation, mastering their skills on the job.

Moving to Baltimore, Maryland a few years later shifted her focus to the art of restoration and residential decoration. Joyce joined an accomplished group of women artists who restored and replicated precious surfaces of gold, marble, wood, and stone with “true” faux finishes that demanded precision and skill. An invitation to execute painted surfaces in the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. was the highlight of her experience.

Joyce has been living and painting walls and canvas in the Lehigh Valley for 15+ years. She has developed a well- received personal style, evident in her subtle monochrome paintings and classic chinoiserie patterns.

Being more focused and selective in her commissions has given Joyce the opportunity to offer a color consultation service. “Paint color selection has always been an integral part of my decoratively painted backgrounds. Years of hands-on color theory, designer and artist influences, and recently, retail paint experience with the Benjamin Moore paint line provide unique advantages to choosing wall colors.”

“ Many successful collaborations have fueled my enthusiasm and honed my skills at finding the best solutions for my clients, be it wall color or a painted canvas. The times are dictating how we design our spaces; an informed consumer will choose wisely for lasting results, aesthetically, environmentally and economically. I offer my knowledge, passion and scope of color and painting as tools to unify, direct, and personalize the spaces that celebrate your individuality.”
